Chiropractic

Chiropractors utilize many different methods of treatment to help their patients feel better. Choosing the right chiropractor for you is important as there are many different ways to approach chiropractic treatment. At Natural Health Chiropractic, P.C. our philosophy is always to address muscle issues first and then restore function in neighboring joints as necessary. A chiropractic adjustment or manipulation, whether done by hand or with an instrument (Activator Technique for example), is intended to put motion into a joint that has a restriction of movement. The doctor will determine this by physical examination and by putting the joints through different ranges of motion.

Once it is determined that a restriction in the joint is present, a High velocity Low Amplitude (HVLA) adjustment is delivered to the region. This quick motion stimulates nerve receptors (mechanoreceptors) found in the joint and helps ligaments to relax. Research has also shown that when these receptors are stimulated, pain reception may be dulled, also allowing the neighboring soft-tissues to relax.

Our doctors believe in gentle chiropractic manipulation but are also well versed in traditional chiropractic manipulation. We always communicate with our patients before we administer any treatment. We also have other tools to help relieve your pain. Even if you are not sure an adjustment is right for you there are various other treatments that we will use.

You can read more about our muscle work in the section title deep tissue therapy.

Deep Tissue Therapy

Many common complaints seen in a chiropractic office are related to both muscle and joint health. Often you cannot address one without the other. Our doctors focus on restoring normal muscle tone and texture by applying deep pressure to the affected region while stretching the soft tissue under that pressure. We have studied both Active Release Technique ™ as well as Neuromuscular Reeducation ™. Both of these techniques are specifically designed to help treat injuries associated with overuse syndromes by helping to break up micro-adhesions that form in the muscle, tendons, and ligaments and increasing blood flow to the area.

We also utilize a technique known as Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization similar to the Graston™ Technique.

Exercise Therapy

Core strength and stability training is essential to maintaining a healthy spine. Unfortunately many people don’t know where to begin or feel they don’t have the time it takes to commit to an exercise program.

As a chiropractor we have received numerous hours of exercise therapy and are licensed to provide physical therapy to our patients as needed. Many injuries that we see on a daily basis will get full resolution with our treatment but remaining in a healthy state will depend a lot on what you do at home.

Our doctors can help you identify what situations may be casing your pain to begin with and can help you develop an appropriate exercise plan to be done at home.

Nutrition Counseling

It’s obvious to most of us that everything we put into our body has a consequence, whether positive or negative. Deciding what things to avoid and how much it matters is the difficult part. Many people do not realize that pain is associated with inflammation in the body and that it has a direct link to the foods that you choose. While a food choice most likely did not cause your pain, how your body responds to the injury is directly related.

Let our doctor’s help you discover a nutritional plan that is right for you. By taking an appropriate history our doctors can also help you decide if nutritional supplementation is right for you. We offer nutraceutical supplements at an affordable cost both online (click on tabs to visit online store) and in office. While the supplement industry is not regulated, leaving you to wonder what it is you are actually ingesting, our supplements have been third party tested to insure quality and integrity.

Cold Laser Therapy

Natural Health Chiropractic P.C. is one of the few progressive chiropractic practices treating with cold laser therapy. We use the Erchonia PL5000 which was the first laser to receive FDA approval and is widely used in the NFL, major league baseball, cyclist Lance Armstrong, golfer Tiger Woods and has been used by NASA for over 30 years to accelerate the healing process for their astronauts while in space.

What is Cold Laser Therapy?

Cold Laser or Low level laser therapy, is the use of specific wavelengths of light (red and near infrared) to create therapeutic effects.

It is a safe, painless treatment that can be used to treat a wide variety of conditions.

  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
  • TMJ disorders
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Neurological injuries
  • Herniated discs
  • Neuritis
  • Headaches

The Cold Laser also has excellent results with inflammatory conditions such as; Plantar Fascitis, Bursitis, epicondylitis and frozen shoulder syndrome.

How Does It Work?

The Erchonia low-level laser emits two line laser beams. The power output is only 5 milliwatts, so you do not feel anything during the treatment. The wavelength of the laser is such that it stimulates cells in your body to produce more energy.

In every cell of your body there are hundreds of mitochondria. These are the components that produce energy for the cell - be it a nerve cell, a muscle cell, etc. When you get injured, through blunt trauma or repetitive activities, or just from the activities of daily life, some cells do not produce enough energy to perform all their functions.

Cold Laser Therapy uses laser light energy to stimulate cells to function optimally. In the body, light sensitive chromospheres and other elements within the cell absorb energy, initiating a series of important photochemical changes providing the cell with the extra energy needed to accelerate the healing process, the additional energy and effects result in normalization of cell function.

Rock Tape ™ Kineseology Taping

If you have been in an accident, or have an injury from sports, work, or even at home working around the house, Rock Tape is an incredible natural-hybrid product that will help you perform better while recovering from your injury.

Rock Tape is known as kinesiology tape and is fantastic for treating common sports injuries like shin splints, plantar fasciitis and runner’s knee. When applied properly, ROCKTAPE lifts the skin away from the muscle, which promotes blood flow. Faster blood flow means more oxygen and more lymph drainage, which helps remove Lactic Acid.

Rocktape can help athletes improve form and decrease fatigue through better blood flow. These are the two most critical aspects of increasing performance in almost any sport.

Other applications of Rock Tape include:
  • Achilles tendonitis
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Jumpers knee (PFS)
  • ACL/MCL issues
  • Rotator cuff
  • Groin and hamstring pulls
  • Lower back issues
  • Shin splints
  • Tennis and golf elbow
  • Pain associated with pregnancy
  • Postural correction

Natural Health Chiropractic P.C. recommends Rock Tape .  Natural Health Chiropractic P.C. will teach you how to apply Rock Tape properly.   There are even instructional videos to help you get the most out of Rock Tape.
